Orphaned Wells Ready for Adoption and Restoration in Louisiana

Louisiana has hundreds of legacy orphaned and abandoned oil and gas wells that can significantly impact the environment through the emissions of harmful greenhouse gasses, as well as posing other challenges to landowners and communities. The Well Done Foundation is excited to be working cooperatively with the State of Louisiana’s Department of Natural Resources Office of Conservation on four pilot projects, totaling 36 orphaned wells, and we are just getting started. Work on our Louisiana pilot projects is set to begin in July 2021 and we are committed to plugging our first orphan well in Louisiana by the end of 2021.
