The Anderson #5 oil well in Northern Toole County, Montana, was spudded August 12, 1926 and drilled to a final depth of -1,540 feet by the Western Drilling Company, who completed the work August 27, 1926. This well became an orphan in the early 1990s when the last operator, Cavalier Petroleum, filed for bankruptcy and the well formally became the responsibility of the State of Montana. Plugged November 11, 2021
