The Anderson #1 oil well in Northern Toole County, Montana, was spudded August 10, 1924 and drilled to a final depth of -1,545 feet by the Western Drilling Co. This well became an orphan in the early 1990s when the last operator, Cavalier Petroleum, filed for bankruptcy and the well formally became the responsibility of the State of Montana. Plugged (Earth Day 2021) Thanks to Pacific Steel & Recycling.
