for the opportunity of a lifetime
Embark on a journey to majestic Montana for an eco-tourism adventure like none other!
Work alongside Roughneck members, in Big Sky Country with this offer of a unique opportunity for eco-conscious travelers.
During the two-day field experience, you will have the opportunity to measure methane from decades old orphan wells using the latest technology and participate in an actual plugging.
You’ll work on the rig floor and try your hand at roughnecking with our Montana Rig Crew, as they trip pipe in and out of the wellbore, pump cement, gel spacers, and biochar, using the gold standard set by the Well Done Foundation.
Each experience is limited to 10 participants.
All participants must be 18 or older or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
A portion of the fee is tax-deductible.
Scholarships are available.

Shelby, MT
The Bluhm #003 Legacy Oil Well in Toole County, Montana was drilled in September of 1928 to a final depth of 1,560’ into the Madison Lime formation. This well became an Orphan in the early 1990’s when the last operator, Cavalier Petroleum, went out of business and the well formally became the responsibility of
the State of Montana.
The Bluhm #003 Orphaned Well has a greenhouse gas emission factor of over 1,000 metric tons of CO2e per year. That environmental impact equals more than 400 automobiles – and we can stop it now!
